Email verification is an important part of web based email marketing and building a database of email addresses. Why verification? Because if you don’t, won’t or cant verify the email address you collected you could be labeled a spammer and fined a ton of money or be sent to prison as an email spammer.
Using email verification insures that you aren’t spamming someone with some piece of email they don’t want to receive. The electronic mail verification process is quite simple tho. When someone signs up to receive informational or marketing emails from you, the first email you send them is the verification email. You send it to the e-mail address that was provided when they signed up.
The validation of the electronic mail address is the most important thing you will do. Doing the verification can keep you out of jail, keep your host from booting you off as a spammer and show that you care about your customers and your reputation. It’s a smart thing to do and it’s one of email marketings best practices.
As I said above, to verify the email address they signed u with you send them an email at that address.
When they get the email they are told to click on a url in the email to verify that it was them who sent the email and that it’s a correct email address. When you receive their reply you can add them to your database and be 99.9% sure the email address belongs to the person who signed up.
If you haven’t done the validation of the address it could be a vindicative person signing up as someone they aren’t to get even with that person or other nefarious reasons. Do not add anyone to your email marketing database until you get the verification of their email address.
If you want to make money, have happy customers and a happy host make sure you do the email verification on every electronic address you collect.
